Greetings,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Indore Deaf Bilingual Academy(by MBS). As the founder director of this organization, I am humble & proud to say that we have made significant progress in our mission to empower the deaf community & provide them the best opportunities in education, jobs, national & international sports and cultural levels.
I am a born deaf myself. I could not get good and accessible education at my time. When I met Dr.Usha Punjabi (my wife who is a post lingual deaf) we dreamt of opening an education hub for the deaf children like us, but it was not easy at all for us to lead and start something as the society never believed the deaf.
We founded Mook Badhir Sangathan in 1974 on the belief that every person, regardless of their ability to hear or speak, deserves equal opportunities to learn and grow. I have always been passionate about education and the power it has to transform lives. I wanted to go to Gallaudet University at Washington DC, USA but sadly could not clear the entrance exams. I realized that many deaf in India lacked access to quality education and vocational training, I knew that I had to do something to change that – I am thankful to God to be able to work for and with the Indian Deaf Community since past 60 years.
We started IDBA with the goal of providing education and vocational training to the deaf community. I always have tried to open doors for our students to prove their skills at national and international levels and get exposure from the international Deaf communities.
At IDBA, we believe that education is the key to unlocking the potential of the deaf students. Our students learn the same syllabus as general students & curriculum is adapted to meet the unique needs of our students, with a focus on developing communication skills, critical thinking, and practical life skills. We offer a range of courses, including basic literacy, vocational training, and computer skills, to help our students become self-sufficient and contribute to society.
Indian Sign Language is the language of the Indian Deaf. Family plays a vital role in their children’s overall development – I request all parents/siblings to learn ISL and talk about everything with their deaf children including your values & religion, involve deaf members in decision making equally always.
I am proud of the progress that we have made at IDBA,but still there is a long way to go.
I would like to invite our readers, social workers, leaders, Deaf leaders from India and abroad to visit us, support us and encourage us to continue work for the deaf with latest technology & knowledge.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Mr. Rajkumar Punjabi

Greetings,
I am honoured to welcome you to Mook Badhir Sangathan – Indore Deaf Bilingual Academy. As the founder of this organization, I am grateful and thankful to God to say that we have made significant progress in our mission to support the deaf community in India.
My passion for supporting the deaf community was born out of personal experience. I was born hearing but due to typhoid at the age of 9, I lost my hearing ability completely. As a child, I and my family suddenly witnessed the challenges I faced when I turned deaf. I saw first-hand lack of resources, teachers, schools and support available to me as deaf but my father and elder sisters supported me in continuing my education in the general school then college. I had never met any deaf till I did my college. I was being awarded at a function where first time I saw many deaf talking in sign language. After the function, when I met them we were unable to communicate as they were not able to write & I wasn’t able to sign. This brought a curiosity and concern in me that none were educated or literate enough.
That’s why I founded IDBA, with the goal of providing quality & accessible education, vocational training, and support to the Indian Deaf community. Though my family wanted me to go into medical field, but my heart and mind was in devoting me to the welfare of the people like me. We in my organization are committed to ensuring that every individual has right to education and right to language.
Despite of being deaf, only education and books have shaped my soul and my life.I believe in the power of education to transform lives. Good education and good job is the key to happy life. We offer higher education, college, vocational training, job placement training and computer skills to enable our students become self-sufficient and contribute to society. We also provide support services, such as counselling and advocacy, marriage matrimonial support to help our students to lead a happy life with their identity.
I am thankful to God for the progress that we have made at IDBA. However, there is still much work to be done.
I would like to thank my family, our dedicated team of teachers and staff for their hard work and commitment to our students’ success. I would also like to express my gratitude to our donors and supporters who have helped me always at good and bad times.
As we look to the future, we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. We remain committed to our mission of supporting the deaf, and we look forward to working with our partners and supporters to achieve this goal.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Usha Punjabi
